To celebrate the launch of W. Vintage, our handpicked vintage range we asked Watson & White’s Hannah and Kari about their love of vintage and to share with us the vintage pieces they keep in their wardrobe.
Probably when I was at a skint Art student. I used to scour the charity shops of Newcastle looking for something different and cheap. Then I discovered an amazing Vintage shop in Newcastle called Attica and I would spend hours trawling through their rails and that’s when I properly fell in love with vintage clothing.
A fair bit, for the day time I love a vintage shirt or pretty top with some high waisted jeans and I have a few vintage dresses that I love for a night out.
I have a beautiful 1920’s Black evening dress that was a gift for my 40th birthday from a good friend.
Ebay and Vintage shops usually although I have been given a few pieces by family and friends who know that I love a really good piece.
Sizing! Try everything on and check the seams to see if there is any room for adjustment if you need to.
Probably my vintage/antique jewellery pieces, I have a pair of earrings that my Grandmother gave me that were made from a pair of my Grandfather's cufflinks, I also have an antique hand mirror that my husband bought me. My aunt gave me one of her (very glamourous) 1950’s evening dresses unfortunately she was a bit more blessed in the bust department than me so I’ve never worn it but I would never part with it, it’s beautiful.
My everyday handbag is a Vintage Louis Vuitton Speedy bag that I coveted for years after seeing a picture of Audrey Hepburn carrying one.
I do, I always wear a vintage Peridot ring that my mum bought me as it is my chldren’s birthstone. I also always wear a ring that my Grandfather bought me when I was around 11, I wear it as a pinky ring and as I’m 45 now it is officially classed as ‘Vintage’!
An original YSL Le Smoking tuxedo would be heavenly or a Marc Bohan for Dior evening dress.
Bianca Jagger, Loulou de la Falaise and Francoise Hardy are always for Vintage style icons for modern day I actually love how Nicole Richie wears Vintage and Pearl Lowe always looks fab.
