W&W Weekend - North Star Club

W&W Weekend - North Star Club

When we wanted somewhere a bit different to shoot our AW18 collection, we didn't have far to look, as North Star Club is just outside York.

A cross between glamping and what (we imagine) Soho Farmhouse to be like, North Star Club is a woodland retreat for those that like the outdoors with a touch of luxury.

Finding it was a bit of a challenge but, once we arrived, the friendly host showed us to our lodge and pointed out all the fires we had carte blanche to light on our stay (BBQ or stove at our lodge, campfire area, the woodshed cosy woodburner) - one thing for sure you'll be is warm staying here!

We stayed in the Amy Johnson suite (who hailed from Hull no less) and it was our cosy but trendy little home tucked into the trees for the night. Tip: bring some nice food with you, but make sure it's BBQ friendly - there is a nice little kitchen but no microwaves here.

Our 'woodland suite' had two bedrooms, one with bunk beds and the other a master room with wood-burning stove. There are no TVs at this retreat, the stars and good company are all you need.

There's a wondrous bathroom, all slate and copper and locally sourced bubble bath - plus a veranda for whiling away the evenings over  a bottle of wine, or for us drinking copious amounts of coffee while listening to the cows in the fields nearby.

The WoodShed is a reception area come hangout, with leather sofas and throws and an honesty bar. Sadly it wasn't actually a bar (more coffee, teas and cakes) so we took ourselves off through the forest to the nearest village pub - the Star at Sancton which does great food too (so our BBQ remained unused!)

Although outdoorsy, this is very much a grown up retreat so we'd suggest a girls weekend away or romantic stay for couples is best. You can order spa treatments in your lodge for a touch of pampering.

North Star Club was perfect for our shoot, the interiors are beautiful and the surroundings very Instagrammable. Would we go back? Yes for sure, but if you don't like spiders be warned - we saw a few! It is the countryside after all.
