W&W WishList - 15 March 2018

First of all, Happy St. Patricks Day! Seeing as one half of Watson & White is very much a proud Irish gal our first pick is the perfect dish to celebrate with, or save for the day after if you’ve overdone the Guinness as it’s perfect comfort food.

From time to time there seems to be a great choice of films released at the cinema all at once and recently there has been some crackers. Next on my wish list of films to see is Westwood: Punk, Icon, Activist which is a feature length film celebrating the Grande Dame of British fashion. Reportedly Westwood is unhappy with the final cut as it doesn’t focus as much on her political activism as she would have preferred. Westwood can often divide opinions but whatever your views on her you cannot deny her talent, vision and ferocity. Make your own mind up when it’s released on March 31st.

I love shoes and have many, many pairs but it is unusual for me to wear just one pair so much that they literally fall apart. This happened recently when a beloved pair of just the right shade of tan, woven leather loafers finally gave up the ghost. I have searched high and low for a replacement pair and these are nearest version I could find. Perfect for Spring/Summer and will work with practically everything.

Queen of the graphic print Orla Kiely’s work has some of the most recognisable designs of recent years. This exhibition at the Fashion Museum, London features over 150 patterns and products including her famous ‘Pear’ and ‘Stem’ designs. Access to the company’s archives, original sketches and photographs provide the exhibition with a unique insight into the workings of the iconic pattern house. Exhibition begins 25th May.

With the revelation that the average Easter egg contains the same (if not less) chocolate than a regular bar, Easter eggs have been reinvented in other guises. This pick is by Make up Revolution who have been on a roll recently with their high end make up dupes for drug store prices. The cute make up filled egg is a great alternative for make-up lovers (especially the tween market) and at £5 each there’ll be money left over for a bar of chocolate (or 2).

The oil cleansing method is not a new phenomenon and countless companies produce a plethora of cleansing oils at various price points. I came across a video on YouTube explaining the method using only a mixture of Castor and Olive Oil. I was sceptical at first especially as the YouTuber explaining the concept was half my age and already the owner of beautiful skin. Undeterred I gave it a go, using a mixture of Argan Oil, Olive Oil and a hot cloth. I cleansed my face every morning and evening for 2 weeks. So, has it worked? Well I’m still using the method and there has been a big improvement in the moisture levels and texture of my previously dry skin. Continued use is supposed to, over time, improve skin tone and reduce the number of imperfections and as the oils are so inexpensive it’s definitely worth trying out if you’re looking for a new routine. Read more about the method here.

See you next week.
