W&W WishList 23 March 2018

With the first official day of Spring arriving in a blizzard, brighter days seem to be finally on their way, so this week we’re optimistically looking to the longer sunnier days ahead.

With Easter just around the corner, the kids are breaking up from school and families are arranging visits. This recipe is a great one for Easter time and in my former life as a cake shop owner it’s a tried and tested winner, just swap the Maltesers on the top for mini eggs and voila, a perfect crowd pleaser.

One of my all-time favourite film directors is Wes Anderson, I can honestly say that I love every single one of his movies. Due for release on March 30th Isle of Dogs returns to the stop motion animation used previously in the brilliant adaptation of Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr. Fox. If the trailer is anything to go by, Mr. Anderson will have yet another hit on his hands.

Last Summer’s most lusted after bag was Cult’s Gaia Ark which sold out time and time again. Its popularity shows no signs of abating this year and lots of dupes are popping up this time around. A good basket bag is always a fab summer buy and for a more purse-friendly option this one from Etsy ticks all the boxes. Fling everything in it whether at home or on holiday for a chic wardrobe update.

The only downside to the sunnier weather for me is that I have to lose the boots and tights and finally get my legs out, which means getting the fake tan out too. The world of fake tanning is a mine field and the number one complaint for me is the smell. Burnt toast, sickly, chemical-laden fragrances coupled with the drying effect on the skin are all complaints and are not just attributed to the cheaper end of the market. This new tanner is different in that it is hydrating and smells gorgeous with a lovely holiday coconut fragrance, apply with a mit for best results.

If you follow the hilarious Dawn O’Porter (@hotpatooties) on Instagram you may have seen that she is starting an Intsa- based book club called @the_cold_water_book_club. Named after all those times she has been so engrossed reading a book in the bath that the water has gone cold. Her first pick is this one and although I’ve not yet started reading it the reviews are impressive and Dawn herself describes the book as ‘Impeccable’.

Our motto here at Watson & White is that if we won’t wear it we don’t share it and this is always in our minds as we buy stock. One piece that I immediately took from the rails is our KIKI blouse which I adore. It has a vintage style nod, super comfy and light enough for summer but also to wear under a knit. In a gorgeous pale yellowy cream colour, it’s a classic piece for the Spring that's beckoning.
