W&W Wishlist - 9 March 2018

There are very few reasons I would leave my home in a blizzard on an evening but last week a group of girlfriends had arranged a cinema night. We all trudged through the snow muttering through our scarves that “this better be worth it” and ‘I, Tonya’ absolutely was. Growing up in the 80’s when sport on TV was either ice skating or Saturday afternoon wrestling we all had a vague recollection of the Tonya Harding v Nancy Kerrigan story. The film was surprisingly hilarious, inappropriate in parts and expertly acted. The fabulous Allison Janney stole the show for me with her portrayal as Tonya’s highly dysfunctional mother but honestly there was not one dud performance in the whole film. Highly recommend and definitely worth the trip away from my sofa.

If you’re in or near Manchester this exhibition (FREE ENTRY) by Sylvia Pankhurst (daughter of Emmeline Parkhurst) is well worth a look. The selection of paintings and pastel studies show the working lives of women she met whilst travelling through England and Scotland in 1907. The works are honest, poignant and beautiful and an important marker in Women’s history. Working Women Exhibition is on now until Sunday 29 April 2018.

I’m a big fan of jumpsuits; super comfy and easy to wear they are having a bit of a resurgence. Mango have a great 70’s inspired denim one and this one from ASOS is also on my wish list. Wear with trainers to run around in during the day then pop on some heels for the evening. Perfect.

I’m a big fan of Charlotte Tilbury’s Face Palettes which are fabulous for travelling as everything you need is there, all colour coordinated and even numbered as to which order to use them. However, priced at £49 they are a little pricey. Stila products (their skincare is lovely) have been getting a lot of positive press lately and their face palettes are an excellent alternative, especially as they are nearly half the price of the CT version. They are sold in skin colour tones, so just select your nearest type and away you go.

I have to admit that Asda isn’t my first port of call when shopping for interiors but they have really upped their game recently. The ‘Exotic Luxe’ range has some real beauties in it and as expected the prices are brilliant.

These brilliant books have been popping up all over my Instagram feed recently and they are a welcome sight. The series tell the stories of outstanding people from artists, writers, designers and scientists who ‘dreamt big’. Stylish, informative and beautifully illustrated, the books are an inspiring celebration of the lives of some of the great women who have shaped our world.

We wish you all a happy International Women’s day.

And by the way the tickets for the Frida Khalo exhibition at the V&A are now on sale.
