W&W WishList - April 7 2018

We hope you all had a fabulous Easter Holidays and it feels that March literally flew by. For me March is a busy time of year as 17 of my close friends and family celebrate birthdays. I know! 17! It’s an expensive month and I try to plan presents ahead of time. With so many to buy I tend to go online shopping and I love a personalised or custom made gift. For me the first stop for a gift with a difference (and also to support indie businesses) is Etsy.

Straw bags, wicker baskets are always a summer favourite and the high street is quickly filling up with a plethora of sizes and styles. If you want yours to stand out from the rest why not have it personalised? This seller can embroider your choice of Moroccan bag with your name, initial or word of your choice and finish it all off with a tassel in your chosen colour.

Enter ‘personalised jewellery’ into the search bar and hundreds of options will come up, pieces with children’s initials, birth dates and anniversaries engraved are all catered for. These typewriter key pieces caught my eye for their quirkiness and vintage feel.

If I have a milestone birthday gift to buy I like to go for something with a real personal touch. This working paperweight compass can be engraved with up to 60 characters and is beautifully presented. The one featured in the photograph is engraved with the message “So you can always find your way back home. Love Anna” which is a beautiful sentiment.

Any item which is handmade and beautifully made is worth the splurge, especially if you can choose colours and design. This seller offers a wide choice, so your wall hanging can perfectly complement existing home décor, hand-weaving each piece in wool, linen and silk threads. Gorgeous.

I’m not going to lie I bought these bath melts as a ‘gift’ to myself. As a definite bath girl, and with summer hopefully just around the corner, these skin saving melts looked too good to pass up. The reviews are 5* for this seller and every item in their store are handmade to order using only natural ingredients and beautifully packaged.

I know people don’t send letters so much anymore but there is something quite lovely about having personalised stationery or receiving a hand-written note. I love the Windsor font of this one, it would also make a great house warming gift.

So, whether you’re looking for a special gift or just want to treat yourself we urge you to give an ‘Indie’ business a go, there really are some fabulous artisans out there who really deliver real variety and quality.

See you next week.
