W&W WishList - May 5 2018

With the weather finally promising a change and the Bank Holiday weekend upon us, the inevitable barbecue invites start. If you want a notch up from the standard burger and sausage offerings then this recipe for fish kebabs is a great alternative. The salsa can be prepared ahead and stored in the fridge making it a quick, impressive and easy meal. And if the weather is going to make it a ‘traditional British Bank Holiday’ (i.e. the heavens will open as soon as the charcoal gets lit) then simply grill the fish inside.

Lip oils are the newest make up trend on the block with YSL and Clinique launching their versions earlier this year. Promising the hydration of a balm with the sheen of a gloss I was a bit reluctant to believe their claims thinking I may end with a slippery goop. However, I tried this one from GOSH and I’m pleasantly surprised and have been reaching for it daily. Not as shiny as a gloss and definitely not as sticky it does keep lips comfortable with a very subtle gleam perfect for a light Summer make up look. Coloured versions are available too.

I came across this after the fabulous Caroline Jones from @knickers_models_own showed her visit on her Instagram stories recently. This permanent exhibition based in Leeds showcases original artefacts from the Marks and Spencer archives from the 1900s right up to present day. The exhibition tells the story of today’s most recognised high street stores from its Penny Bazaar beginnings through a huge collection of products, interactive exhibits and activities. I must admit I’m going with a particular interest in the clothing but there are also fascinating insights into the business workings of the company with Human Resource, Marketing, Operational and even architectural records featured.

Hopefully its now finally time to ditch the boots and start getting our toes into some pretty summer sandals and the high street is really delivering a great choice at reasonable prices. I love these from Mango especially in the yellow version but for £19.99 a pair buying both colours are worth the spend. Instore and online now.

The holy grail of summer jeans for me are high waisted, slightly flared, a bit of a stretch fabric and in a soft light blue shade. Basically, I want a pair that look like a mum in the Seventies would have worn. These from H&M have been popping up all over Instagram and having ordered them I can see why. Wearing them as soon as they arrived I can attest that they have ticked all my boxes for a fabulous £24.99.

Bank Holidays often feature a spot of DIY but if you can’t face a full-blown room revamp new home accessories can brighten and change the look of a room with minimal effort. Habitat has some great pieces for your home but often the prices are a little on the higher scale. There are lots of cushions to choose from but these were my favourite for the price.

We hope you have a fabulous Bank Holiday weekend whatever you’re doing and I’ll see you next week.
